Warsaw University of Technology, Poland http://orcid.org/0000-0002-9157-3036
This paper presents low-cost, configurable PCI
Express (PCIe) direct memory access (DMA) interface for
implementation on Intel Cyclone V FPGAs. The DMA engine was
designed to support DAQ tasks including continuous pretriggering
acquisition for transient analysis and multichannel
transmission. Proposed solution is based on Intel SoPC resources.
Performance of the interface has been evaluated on Terasic OVSK
board (PCIe Gen2 x4). Target configuration of this interface is
based on the Avalon-MM Hard IP for Cyclone V PCIe core and
Jungo WinDriver x64 for Windows. A sample speed of 1200 MB/s
has been reported for DMA writes to PCIe memory.

Track-Before-Detect Filter Banks for Noise Object Tracking
Mazurek, Przemysław
Department of Signal Processing and Multimedia Engineering, West Pomeranian University of Technology, 26-Kwietnia 10, 71-126 Szczecin, Poland
The Track-Before-Detect (TBD) filter banks is proposed for the processing of noise object that are additive to the background noise. Spatio-Temporal TBD algorithm uses the preprocessing of measurement. The modified moving standard deviation filter is applied. The correction of the results for the selection of the highest possible filter banks window is proposed. Position and velocity errors are evaluated numerically for two smoothing coefficients. Monte Carlo test shows that all filter banks allow the tracking if the standard deviation of the background is below 1.3.

music generation; harmonic wave analysis; ANN; musical improviser
This work aims to create an ANN-based system for a musical improviser. An artificial improviser of "hearing" music will create a melody. The data supplied to the improviser is MIDI-type musical data. This is the harmonic-rhythmic course, the background for improvisation, and the previously made melody notes. The harmonic run is fed into the system as the currently ongoing chord and the time to the next chord, while the supplied few dozen notes performed earlier will indirectly carry information about the entire run and the musical context and style. Improvisation training is carried out to check ANN as a correct-looking musical improvisation device. The improviser generates several hundred notes to be substituted for a looped rhythmic-harmonic waveform and examined for quality.

Computer Science and Engineering, unrelated parallel machine scheduling problem, task scheduling for corporation teams, genetic algorithms, tabu search, branch and bound
We consider the real-life problem of planning tasks for teams in a corporation, in conditions of some restrictions. The problem takes into account various constraints, such as for instance flexible working hours, common meeting periods, time set aside for self-learning, lunchtimes and periodic performance of tasks. Additionally, only a part of the team may participate in meetings, and each team member may have their own periodic tasks such as self-development.
We propose an algorithm that is an extension of the algorithm dedicated for scheduling on parallel unrelated processors with the makespan criterion. Our approach assumes that each task can be defined by a subset of employees or an entire team. However, each worker is of a different efficiency, so task completion times may differ. Moreover, the tasks are prioritized. The problem is NP-hard.
Numerical experiments cover benchmarks with 10 instances of 100 tasks assigned to a 5-person team. For all instances, various algorithms such as branch-and-bound, genetic and tabu search have been tested.

Access logs may offer service providers a lot of information about specific users. Depending on the type of the service offers, the operator is capable of obtaining the user’s IP, location, communication habits, device information and so on. In this paper, we analyze a sample instant messenger service that is operating for a certain period of time. In our sandbox, we gathered enough data to correlate user communication habits with their localization, and even contacts. We show how seriously metadata may impact the user’s privacy and make some recommendations about mitigating the quantity of data collected in connection with this type of services.

The article explores the possibility of automated linearization of nonlinear models. The process of constructing a linearized model for a nonlinear system is quite laborious and is practically unrealizable when the dimension n is greater than 3. Also, when building a linearized model, there is a "human factor" that does not guarantee the correctness of the calculation of arithmetic expressions. In this regard, the task of automating the process of linearization of the original nonlinear model is relevant. On the basis of linearized models, one can further investigate such properties of the original model as stability and controllability. Based on the application of computer algebra, a constructive algorithm for the linearization of a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations has been developed. Developed software on MatLab. The efficiency of the proposed algorithm has been demonstrated on applied problems. For a mathematical model of the dynamics of an unmanned aerial vehicle, described by a system of ordinary differential equations of the 6th order, a linearized system is automatically constructed. Two procedures have been developed for the mathematical model of a two-link robot. The first procedure allows one to normalize the mathematical model obtained on the basis of the Lagrange equations of the second kind. The second procedure uses the normalized mathematical model to build its linearized copy.
The linearized models obtained were further used to investigate the stability of the original models.
In order to account for possible inaccuracies in the measurement of model technical parameters arising from wear and tear or variability in temperature operating conditions, the linearized model is assumed to be interval.
For the interval linearized model, the procedure of constructing the corresponding interval characteristic polynomial and the corresponding Hurwitz matrix is automated. Based on the analysis of the properties of the main minors of the Hurwitz matrix, the stability of the system under study is analyzed.

Because of an aging society and the relevance of computer-based systems in a variety of fields of our life, personalization of software systems is becoming more important by the day in order to prevent usage errors and create a good user experience. However, personalization typically is a time-consuming and costly process if it is done through manual configuration. Automated adaptation to specific users’ needs is, therefore, a useful way to reduce the efforts necessary. The IAAA project focuses on the analysis of user interaction capabilities and the implementation of automated adaptations based on them. However, the success of these endeavors is strongly reliant on a careful selection of interaction modalities as well as profound knowledge of the target group’s general interaction behavior. Therefore, as a first step in the project, an extensive task-based user observation with thorough involvement of the actual target group was conducted in order to determine input devices and modalities that would in a second step become subject of the first prototypic implementations. This paper discusses the general objectives of the IAAA project, describes the methodology and aims behind the user observation and presents its results.

This work aims to improve the total power dissipation, leakage currents and stability without disturbing the logic state of SRAM cell with concept called sub-threshold operation. Though, sub-threshold SRAM proves to be advantageous but fails with basic 6T SRAM cell during readability and writability. In this paper we have investigated a non-volatile 6T2M (6 Transistors & 2 Memristors) sub-threshold SRAM cell working at lower supply voltage of VDD=0.3V, where Memristor is used to store the information even at power failures and restores previous data with successful read and write operation overcomes the challenge faced. This paper also proposes a new configuration of non-volatile 6T2M (6 Transistors & 2 Memristors) sub-threshold SRAM cell resulting in improved behaviour in terms of power, stability and leakage current where read and write power has improved by 40% and 90% respectively when compared to 6T2M (conventional) SRAM cell. The proposed 6T2M SRAM cell offers good stability of RSNM=65mV and WSNM=93mV which is much improved at low voltage when compared to conventional basic 6T SRAM cell, and improved leakage current of 4.92nA is achieved as compared.

At the beginning of the year 2024, 65 years will have
passed since the establishment of the Chamber of Experts of the
Association of Polish Electrical Engineers (SEP). During this
period, SEP underwent significant changes. Particularly serious
changes in the conditions for practicing association expertises have
occurred in recent years, along with dynamic economic and
political changes in Poland. Expertise is strongly based on
economic conditions and the ways in which scientific, technical and
industrial competences are expanded and available in the society.
In the past, these highest competencies were quite strictly limited
to well-organized professional communities related to scientific
and technical associations such as SEP, and federal bodies such as
NOT. Competencies were also generated in the best industrial
centres associated with academic polytechnic centres. Today the
role of expertises in electrical, electronics ansd ICT engineering is
undergoing significant changes.

Channel coding provides numerous advantages to digital communications. One of such advantages is error correcting capabilities. This, however, comes at the expense of coding rate, which is a function of the codebook’s cardinality |C| or number of coded information bits and the codeword length M. In order to achieve high coding rate, we hereby report a channel coding approach that is capable of error correction under power line communications (PLC) channel conditions, with permutation coding as the coding scheme of choice. The approach adopts the technique of unequal error correction for binary codes, but with the exception that non-binary permutation codes are employed here. As such, certain parts of the information bits are coded with permutation symbols, while transmitting other parts uncoded. Comparisons with other conventional permutation codes are presented, with the proposed scheme exhibiting a relatively competitive performance in terms of symbol error rate.

Noncircularity of Demodulated Radar Signal
Rytel-Andrianik, Rafał
Warsaw University of Technology
The output of the quadrature demodulator is generally regarded as a complex signal that is circular if only the demodulator is well balanced. In the paper we analyze properties of quadrature demodulators, particularly digital one, and show that the output is noncircular also if the input signal is nonstationary. Then we find sources of this noncircularity and show that they stem from transients of the low-pass demodulator filter. This is quite important because nonstationary inputs are quite typical in radar where power of echoes depends strongly on range. In the first sections we also review complex random signals and properties of circularity and properness.

The TIGER-3 radar is being developed as an “all digital” radar with 20 integrated digital transceivers, each connected to a separate antenna. Using phased array antenna techniques, radiated power is steered towards a desired direction based on the relative phases within the array elements. This paper proposes an accurate phase measurement method to calibrate the phases of the radio output signals using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology. The method sequentially measures the phase offset between the RF signal generated by each transceiver and a reference signal operated at the same frequency. Accordingly, the transceiver adjusts its phase in order to align to the reference phase. This results in accurately aligned phases of the RF output signals and with the further addition of appropriate phase offsets, digital beamforming (DBF) can be performed steering the beam in a desired direction. The proposed method is implemented on a Virtex-5 VFX70T device. Experimental results show that the calibration accuracy is of 0.153 degrees with 14 MHz operating frequency.

This article deals with issues related to the optimization of traffic management in modern cities, the so-called Smart City. In particular, the article presents the process of evolution of the traffic flow prediction model at a selected crossroads in a selected city in Poland - the city of Rzeszów. Rzeszow is an example of a smart city equipped with an extensive system of real-time data collection and processing from multiple road points in the city. The research was aimed at a detailed analysis of the feasibility and degree of fit of different variants of the regression model: linear, polynomial, trigonometric, polynomial-trigonometric, and regression-based Random Forest algorithm. Several studies were carried out evaluating different generations of models, in particular, an analysis was carried out based on which the superiority of the trigonometric model was demonstrated. This model had the best fit and the lowest error rate, which could be a good conclusion for widespread use and implementation in Smart City supervisory systems.

Design and Noise Analysis of a Novel Auto-Zeroing Structure for Continuous-Time Instrumentation Amplifiers
Kayal, Maher
Electronics Laboratory, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, 1015 Lausanne, Switzerland
This paper introduces a low-noise, low-power amplifier for high-impedance sensors. An innovative circuit using an auto-zeroed architecture combined with frequency modulation to reject offset and low-frequency noise is proposed and analysed. Special care was given to avoid broadband noise aliasing and chopping in the signal path, and to minimize both the resulting equivalent input offset voltage and equivalent input biasing current. The theoretical noise analysis of the proposed topology covers most of the noise sources of the circuit. Simulations show that the input-referred noise level of the circuit is 13.4nV/pHz for a power consumption of 85μA with a power supply from 1.8V to 3.6V.

High resolution 3D mesh representations of patient anatomy with appendant functional classification are of high importance in the field of clinical education and therapy planning. Thereby, classification is not always possible directly from patient morphology, thus necessitating tool support. In this work a hierarchical mesh data model for multi-hierarchy anatomical classification is introduced, allowing labeling of a patient model according to various medical taxonomies. The classification regions are thereby specified utilizing a spline representation to be placed and deformed by a medical expert at low effort. Furthermore, application of randomized dilation allows conversion of the specified regions on the surface into fragmented and closed sub-meshes, comprising the entire anatomical structure.
As proof of concept, the semi-automated classification method is implemented for VTK library and visualization of the multihierarchy anatomical model is validated with OpenGL, successfully extracting sub-meshes of the brain lobes and preparing classification regions according to Brodmann area taxonomy.

The paper presents a new method of structured encoding of global internal states and events in Reconfigurable Logic Controllers, which are directly mapped into Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA). Modular, concurrently decomposed, colored state machine is chosen as a intermediate model, before the mapping of Petri net into an array structure of dedicated but very flexible and reliable digital system. The initial textual specification in formal Gentzen logic serves both as a design description for a rapid prototyping, as well as formal model, suitable for detailed computer-based reasoning about optimized and synthesized logic controller, implemented in configurable hardware. Only the selected linear subset from general, universal propositional Gentzen Logic is necessary to deduce several properties of the net, such as relations of nonconcurrency among structurally ordered macroplaces. The goal of this paper is to present the design methodology for modeling and synthesis of discrete controllers using related Petri net theory, rule-based theory (mathematical logic), and VHDL.

Electrocardiography is an examination performed frequently in patients experiencing symptoms of heart disease. Upon a detailed analysis, it has shown potential to detect and identify various activities. In this article, we present a deep learning approach that can be used to analyze ECG signals. Our research shows promising results in recognizing activity and disease patterns with nearly 90% accuracy. In this paper, we present the early results of our analysis, indicating the potential of using deep learning algorithms in the analysis of both onedimensional and two–dimensional data. The methodology we present can be utilized for ECG data classification and can be extended to wearable devices. Conclusions of our study pave the way for exploring live data analysis through wearable devices in order to not only predict specific cardiac conditions, but also a possibility of using them in alternative and augmented
communication frameworks.

Minimization of Energy and Service Latency Computation Offloading using Neural Network in 5G NOMA System
Suprith, PG

Mobile edge computing, Deep Q Network Algorithm, Latency Optimized, Computation Offloading, 5G
The future Internet of Things (IoT) era is anticipated to support computation-intensive and time-critical applications using edge computing for mobile (MEC), which is regarded as promising technique. However, the transmitting uplink performance will be highly impacted by the hostile wireless channel, the low bandwidth, and the low transmission power of IoT devices. Using edge computing for mobile (MEC) to offload tasks becomes a crucial technology to reduce service latency for computation-intensive applications and reduce the computational workloads of mobile devices. Under the restrictions of computation latency and cloud computing capacity, our goal is to reduce the overall energy consumption of all users, including transmission energy and local computation energy. In this article, the Deep Q Network Algorithm (DQNA) to deal with the data rates with respect to the user base in different time slots of 5G NOMA network. The DQNA is optimized by considering more number of cell structures like 2, 4, 6 and 8. Therefore, the DQNA provides the optimal distribution of power among all 3 users in the 5G network, which gives the increased data rates. The existing various power distribution algorithms like frequent pattern (FP), weighted least squares mean error weighted least squares mean error (WLSME), and Random Power and Maximal Power allocation are used to justify the proposed DQNA technique. The proposed technique which gives 81.6% more the data rates when increased the cell structure to 8. Thus 25% more in comparison to other algorithms like FP, WLSME Random Power and Maximal Power allocation.

The article is devoted to the problem of voice
signals recognition means introduction in the system of distance
learning. The results of the conducted research determine the
prospects of neural network means of phoneme recognition.
It is also shown that the main diculties of creation of the
neural network model, intended for recognition of phonemes
in the system of distance learning, are connected with the
uncertain duration of a phoneme-like element. Due to this
reason for recognition of phonemes, it is impossible to use
the most eective type of neural network model on the basis
of a multilayered perceptron, at which the number of input
parameters is a xed value. To mitigate this shortcoming, the
procedure, allowing to transform the non-stationary digitized
voice signal to the xed quantity of mel-cepstral coecients,
which are the basis for calculation of input parameters of
the neural network model, is developed. In contrast to the
known ones, the possibility of linear scaling of phoneme-
like elements is available in the procedure. The number of
computer experiments conrmed expediency of the fact that
the use of the oered coding procedure of input parameters
provides the acceptable accuracy of neural network recognition
of phonemes under near-natural conditions of the distance
learning system. Moreover, the prospects of further research in
the eld of development of neural network means of phoneme
recognition of a voice signal in the system of distance learning
is connected with an increase in admissible noise level. Besides,
the adaptation of the oered procedure to various natural
languages, as well as to other applied tasks, for instance, a
problem of biometric authentication in the banking sector, is
also of great interest.

Parul University
The blustery growth of high data rate applications leads
to more energy consumption in wireless networks to satisfy service
quality. Therefore, energy-efficient communications have been paid
more attention to limited energy resources and environmentally
friendly transmission functioning. Countless publications are
present in this domain which focuses on intensifying network
energy efficiency for uplink-downlink transmission. It is done either
by using linear precoding schemes, by amending the number of
antennas per BS, by power control problem formulation, antenna
selection schemes, level of hardware impairments, and by
considering cell-free (CF) Massive-MIMO.After reviewing these
techniques, still there are many barriers to implement them
practically. The strategies mentioned in this review show the
performance of EE under the schemes as raised above. The chief
contribution of this work is the comparative study of how Massive
MIMO EE performs under the background of different methods
and architectures and the solutions to few problem formulations
that affect the EE of network systems. This study will help choose
the best criteria to improve EE of Massive MIMO while
formulating a newer edition of testing stand-ards.This survey
provides the base for interested readers in energy efficient Massive
MIMO.

This paper deals with the problem of implementing adaptive radar tracking filters based on continuous-time models of target motion and on discrete-time models of measurement process. The particular difficulties addressed include: nonlinear and non-stationary target movement models with uncertain parameters, and low data rate due to a rotating radar antenna. The proposed tracking filter relies basically on the continuous-discrete variant of the extended Kalman filter (EKF), the probabilistic data association (PDA) technique and the interacting multiplemodel (IMM) state estimation scheme. Numerical properties of the algorithm are discussed and a software implementation is developed using the open-source BLAS library. Several design concepts are combined to assure numerical stability, convergence and efficiency of the estimator.

Increasing development in information and communication technology leads to the generation of large amount of data from various sources. These collected data from multiple sources grows exponentially and may not be structurally uniform. In general, these are heterogeneous and distributed in multiple databases. Because of large volume, high velocity and variety of data mining knowledge in this environment becomes a big data challenge. Distributed Association Rule Mining(DARM) in these circumstances becomes a tedious task for an effective global Decision Support System(DSS). The DARM algorithms generate a large number of association rules and frequent itemset in the big data environment. In this situation synthesizing high-frequency rules from the big database becomes more challenging. Many algorithms for synthesizing association rule have been proposed in multiple database mining environments. These are facing enormous challenges in terms of high availability, scalability, efficiency, high cost for the storage and processing of large intermediate results and multiple redundant rules. In this paper, we have proposed a model to collect data from multiple sources into a big data storage framework based on HDFS. Secondly, a weighted multi-partitioned method for synthesizing high-frequency rules using MapReduce programming paradigm has been proposed. Experiments have been conducted in a parallel and distributed environment by using commodity hardware. We ensure the efficiency, scalability, high availability and cost-effectiveness of our proposed method.

With the rapid increase in transmission speeds of communication systems, the demand for very high-speed lowpower VLSI circuits is on the rise. Although the performance of CMOS technologies improves notably with scaling, conventional CMOS circuits cannot simultaneously satisfy the speed and power requirements of these applications. In this paper we survey the state of the art of on-chip interconnect techniques for improving performance, power and delay optimization and also comparative analysis of various techniques for high speed design have been discussed.

In 2008, the Japanese government enacted a new healthcare law that requires companies to reduce the weight of overweight employees suffering from so-called metabolic syndrome, and the weight of their spouses. In 2013, companies that fail to reduce the weight of their employees and their spouses will be penalized. So, companies aim to introduce tools to support to loose weight. At first, we developed the first version of mobile application, named HIPPO (Healthcare Information Platform Project), to support to loose weight in 2007. This application worked well during two months and 76% of users whose BMI was 25 or over lost their weight. However, this problem was that many users could not continue to use this application and users who could continued to use this application could loose weight. We thought that to develop application that made user continue to use was important. So, in 2008, redesigned the system architecture and application from three view points, (1) Address real user needs, (2) Rethink and streamline the data-entry model for food and exercise, (3) Make the user experience personal and engaging. We designed one simple application with limited functions and use email as a support tool. As the result, 84% of uses could continue to use the second generation application.

Long-duration human space missions require intelligent regenerative life support systems that can recycle resources and automatically manage failures. This paper explores using Petri nets to model the reliability and complex interactions of such closed-loop systems. An architecture consisting of primary systems, backups, and consumable reserves is outlined. The automation system that controls everything is described. Petri nets can capture concurrency, failure modes, redundancy, and dynamic behavior. A modular modeling methodology is presented to develop hierarchical Petri net models that scale in fidelity. Elementary fragments represent failures and redundancy. Subsystem modules can be substituted for more detailed models. Analysis and simulation assess system reliability and failure response. This supports designing ultra-reliable systems to safely sustain human life in space.

Arriving at a good combination of coding and
modulation schemes that can achieve good error correction
constitutes a challenge in digital communication systems. In this
work, we explore the combination of permutation coding (PC)
and pulse amplitude modulation (PAM) for mitigating channel
errors in the presence of background noise and jitter. Since PAM
is characterised with bi-polar constellations, Euclidean distance is
a good choice for predicting the performance of such coded modulation
setup. In order to address certain challenges facing PCs,
we therefore introduce injections in the coding system, together
with a modified form of PAM system. This modification entails
constraining the PAM constellations to the size of the codeword’s
symbol. The results obtained demonstrate the strength of the
modified coded PAM system over the conventional PC coded
PAM system.

What decoder is, everyone knows. The paper presents fast and efficient method of layouts design of n-to- 2n-lines decoders. Two scenarios of layout arrangement are proposed and described. Based on a few building blocks only, especially prepared, and appropriate procedure of their placement, a decoder of any size can be build. Layouts of all needed fundamental blocks were designed in CMOS technology, as standard library. Moreover, some important parameters, such area, power dissipation and delay, were assessed and compared for decoders designed with proposed method and traditional. Power consumption were considered under extended model, which takes into account changes of input vectors, not only switching activity factor. All designs were done in UMC 180 CMOS technology.

Business Intelligence approaches such as process mining can be applied to the healthcare domain in order to gain insight into the complex processes taking place. Disclosing as-is processes helps identify room for improvement and answers questions from medical professionals. Existing approaches are based on proprietary log data as input for mining algorithms. Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) defines in its Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA) profile how real-world events must be recorded. Since IHE is used by many healthcare providers throughout the world, an extensive amount of log data is produced. In our research we investigate if audit trails, generated from an IHE test system, carry enough content to successfully apply process mining techniques. Furthermore we assess the quality of the recorded events in accordance with the maturity level scoring system. A simplified simulation of the organizational workflow in a radiological practice is presented. Based on this simulation a process miing task is conducted.

Internet of Things (IoTs); Routing Protocol for Low power and Lossy Networks (RPL); Mobility Aware (MA-RPL); Time Difference of Arrival (TDoA)
Nodes' aware-mobility in the Internet of Things (IoTs) stills open defy for researchers, due to the dynamic changing of routing path and networks’ resource limitations. Therefore, in this study a new method is proposed called Mobility Aware - “Routing Protocol for Low power and Lossy Networks” (MA-RPL), that consists of two phases: in the first phase splitting the entire network into sub areas based on reference nodes with “Time Difference of Arrival” (TDoA) technique. While, the second phase, is about managing mobile nodes (MNs) in RPL according to the sub areas' ID. The Cooja simulator software has been used to implement and assess MA-RPL method performance, according to the data packet metrics (lost packet, packet delivery ratio PDR), latency and nodes' power usage in comparison with two methods: Corona (Co-RPL) and Mobility Enhanced (ME-RPL). The simulation results have been shown that the MA-RPL method consumes less nodes' energy usage, gives less latency with minimum data packet loss in comparison with Co-RPL and ME-RPL

In this paper, we have researched implementing convolutional neural network (CNN) models for devices with limited resources, such as smartphones and embedded computers. To optimize the number of parameters of these models, we studied various popular methods that would allow them to operate more efficiently. Specifically, our research focused on the ResNet-101 and VGG-19 architectures, which we modified using techniques specific to model optimization. We aimed to determine which approach would work best for particular requirements for a maximum accepted accuracy drop. Our contribution lies in the comprehensive ablation study, which presents the impact of different approaches on the final results, specifically in terms of reducing model parameters, FLOPS, and the potential decline in accuracy. We explored the feasibility of implementing architecture compression methods that can influence the model's structure. Additionally, we delved into post-training methods, such as pruning and quantization, at various model sparsity levels. This study builds upon our prior research to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the subject matter at hand.

In order to solve the problem of misjudgment caused by the traditional power grid fault diagnosis methods, a new fusion diagnosis method is proposed based on the theory of multi-source information fusion. In this method, the fault degree of the power element is deduced by using the Bayesian network. Then, the time-domain singular spectrum entropy, frequency-domain power spectrum entropy and wavelet packet energy spectrum entropy of the electrical signals of each circuit after the failure are extracted, and these three characteristic quantities are taken as the fault support degree of the power components. Finally, the four fault degrees are normalized and classified as four evidence bodies in the D-S evidence theory for multi-feature fusion, which reduces the uncertainty brought by a single feature body. Simulation results show that the proposed method can obtain more reliable diagnosis results compared with the traditional methods.

Photovoltaic (PV) technology is an attractive power source for systems with no wired connections to any network. Because of seasonal variations of solar irradiation, designing such a system requires careful analysis in order to provide required level of reliability. In this paper we present results of 16-month measurements of experimental PV system located in Poland. Obtained irradiation values have been verified with reference data from independent sources. The results of this work may be helpful in forecasting the performance of similar PV systems in the same region and allow to make more precise forecasts of power system performance than based only on average monthly irradiation tables.

Analysis of an Adaptive Switching Point for LTE TDD by Dynamic System-Level Simulations
Backfrieder, Christian
University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria

University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria
This paper introduces an LTE system level simulator
and presents investigations of scenarios with differently balanced
traffic emergence between uplink and downlink as well as
inhomogeneous distribution of link direction asymmetry. In the
TDD mode of LTE, duplexing is implemented via sharing the
time domain between uplink and downlink users. This is done by
different switching configurations, which offer varying capacity
distributions between downlink and uplink, from a downlinkheavy
configuration with 90 percent of the capacity in downlink
direction to uplink heavy configurations with 60 percent uplink.
We utilize the available capacity perfectly by adjusting the link
configuration appropriately to traffic emergence. Performance
gains when selecting a configuration appropriate to the arising
traffic compared to usage of a static configuration with equally
distributed capacity are investigated. In case of different configurations,
additional interference can occur in neighbored cells
due to distinct communication direction at the same time. We

The current technological development is SD-WAN which provides high-performance access for users located far from the head office so as to allow faster network connections and has been facilitated automation techniques for branch offices. This research solves the problem of XYZ company because it is known that the company requires network connectivity with a high SLA (Service Level Agreement) and no downtime in the information exchange process. This research hypothesis assumes that using SD-WAN would be ideal and the problems with XYZ company were resolved. The purpose of this research is the implementation of a WAN network using SD-WAN technology against two ISPs on the FortiGate router, as well as testing QoS (Quality of Service) that has been configured using the BGP routing method. This research plan consists of ISP-A using IP-VPN (Internet Protocol-Virtual Private Network) and ISP-B using broadband Internet. The test scenario was carried out using 3 methods, namely Full Service Scenario, Fail Over Scenario-1 when the IP VPN service is down and Fail Over Scenario-2 when the broadband Internet service is down. The final results of the research have obtained "Satisfactory" results for both services, including the average index on ISP-A and ISP-B of 3.7.

Damped Zero-Pseudorandom Noise OFDM Systems
Esmaiel, Ahmed Hamada
Aswan University, Egypt
Time reversal (TR), channel estimation (CE), compressed sensing (CS), orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).
This paper proposed a new OFDM scheme called damped zero-pseudorandom noise orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DZPN-OFDM) scheme. In the proposed scheme, ZPN-OFDM non-zero part damped to reduce the guard interval energy as well as the mutual interference power in-between the data and training blocks, and conservative the pseudo-noise conventional properties required for channel estimation or synchronization. The motivation of this paper is the OFDM long guard interval working in wide dispersion channels, where significant energy waste if conventional ZPN-OFDM is used as well as the BER performance degradation. Also, to solve the ZPN-OFDM spectrum efficiency loss problem, the proposed scheme doesn’t duplicate the guard interval. Both detailed performance analysis and simulation results show that the proposed DZPN-OFDM scheme can, indeed, offer significant bit error rate, spectrum efficiency as well as energy efficiency improvement.

In October 2018, local digital radio was launched to cover the agglomeration of Wroclaw. The implementation of this undertaking required many tests, including qualitative ones, that refer to both music and speech. This paper presents the results of subjective tests based on the evaluation of speech quality of signals recorded at various points in Wroclaw. Measurements were carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union as well as in ordinary acoustic conditions in listeners’ flats. The rating was made for male and female voices. The most important conclusion is that for speech signal assessment in meaning of the quality the test conditions do not influence the obtained results. The other fact confirmed in the experiment was that the receiving place of DAB+ signal in the Single-Frequency Network also does not affected the perceived voice quality.

Abstract— The invasive method of medically checking hemoglobin level in human body by taking the blood sample of the patient requiring a long time and injuring the patient is seen impractical. A non-invasive method of measuring hemoglobin levels, therefore, is made by applying the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm and the Artificial Neural Network Back Propagation (ANN-BP) algorithm with the Internet of Things-based HTTP protocol to achieve the high accuracy and the low end-to-end delay. Based on tests conducted on a Noninvasive Hemoglobin measuring device connected to Cloud Things Speak, the prediction process using algorithm by means of Python programming based on Android application could work well. The result of this study showed that the accuracy of the K-Nearest Neighbor algorithm was 94.01%; higher than that of the Artificial Neural Network Back Propagation algorithm by 92.45%. Meanwhile, the end-to-end delay was at 6.09 seconds when using the KNN algorithm and at 6.84 seconds when using Artificial Neural Network Back Propagation Algorithm.

Traditional radio communication has gained significantly from using multiple input and multiple output (MIMO) architecture in the system. Many wireless applications, such as wireless LAN and cellular network, have adopted this technology to improve their system performance. However, the effect of MIMO systems has not been investigated in the case of inductive near field short range communications. The purpose of this paper is to explore a new method for increasing the magnetic communication range using MIMO. Three system models includingMISO, SIMO and MIMO are proposed to characterize the number of transmitters and receivers to the link. These models have helped to extend not only the range but also the communication channel in NFMIC.

In this article the author makes an attempt to characterize the factors which are to be taken into consideration while designing the ground radar component of Air Defense systems, in order to enable them to operate on the modern battlefield. He presents the latest theoretical views on the relationship between the usage of anti-radar weapons and the organizational and technical defense mechanisms which can be deployed against such weapons. In particular the author emphasizes the protection of radars against anti-radiation missiles (ARMs) which present the biggest threat for effective Air Defense systems. He also stresses the need to combine radars into one system which enables the streamlining of their work parameters and thus ensuring their complex usage. The gaining of those capabilities will guarantee that the parameters of the air surveillance radar zone can be defined effectively.

Large concrete structures such as buildings, bridges, and tunnels are aging. In Japan and many other countries, those built during economic reconstruction after World War II are about 60 to 70 years old, and flacking and other problems are becoming more noticeable. Periodic inspections were made mandatory by government and ministerial ordinance during the 2013-2014 fiscal year, and inspections based on the new standards have just begun. There are various methods to check the soundness of concrete, but the hammering test is widely used because it does not require special equipment. However, long experience is required to master the hammering test. Therefore, mechanization is desired. Although the difference between the sound of a defective part and a normal part is very small, we have shown that neural network is useful in our research. To use this technology in the actual field, it is necessary to meet the forms of concrete structures in various conditions. For example, flacking in concrete exists at various depths, and it is impossible to learn about flacking in all cases. This paper presents the results of a study of the possibility of finding flacking at different depths with a single inspection learning model and an idea to increase the accuracy of a learning model when we use a rolling hammer.

Narrow-band Interference; Impulsive Noise; Power-line Communications; BPSK-OFDM; QFSK-OFDM
The article describes and compares two OFDM
based communications schemes for reducing the effects of the
combination of Narrowband Interference (NBI) and Impulsive
Noise (IN), which are noise types typical in Power Line Communication
(PLC). The two schemes are Modified BPSK-OFDM
(called MBPSK, for brevity) and QFSK-OFDM (called QFSK,
for brevity), which are non-conventional OFDM schemes. We
give a description of the two schemes, showing how they are
derived and also show their similarities and eventually compare
their performances. Performance simulation results, in terms
of bit error rate, are given to compare the systems under the
effect of IN and NBI. The popular Middleton Class A model
is used for modelling IN. The results show that MBPSK scheme
outperforms the QFSK scheme in terms of minimum distance,
and hence in terms of bit error probability when no preprocessing
is performed. However, under clipping/nulling, both schemes
eventually reach the bit error rate floor.

Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) are devices that transform analog signals into digital signals and are used in various applications such as audio recording, data acquisition, and measurement systems [1]. Prior to the development of actual chip, there is a need for prototyping, testing and verifying the performance of ADCs in different scenarios. Analog macros cannot be tested on an FPGA. In order to ensure the macros function properly, the emulation of the ADC is done first. This is a digital module and can be designed in System Verilog. This paper demonstrates the design of the module on FPGA for Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) emulation. The emulation is done specific to the ADC macro which has programmable resolutions of 12, 10, 8 or 6 bits. To validate the simulation results, the designed module is tested on FPGA. The outputs and logic block utilization are analyzed. The number of LUTs utilized in the design is 38, the number of flip flops needed is 41 and the input output pin utilization is 20. The dynamic power utilization of the design is 0.543W and the static power utilization is 0.082W.

The paper describes Trigger and Data Acquisition (TRIDAQ) systems of accelerator experiments for High Energy Physics. The background for physics research comprises assumptions of the Standard Model theory with basic extensions. On this basis, a structure of particle detector system is described, with emphasis on the following functional blocks: Front-End Electronics, Trigger and DAQ systems. The described solutions are used in the LHC experiments: ATLAS, ALICE, CMS and LHCb. They are also used in other accelerator experiments. Data storage and processing functionality is divided into two hardware systems: Trigger and Data Acquisition, that are dependent on each other. High input data rate impose relevant choices for the architecture and parameters of both systems. The key parameters include detailed system structure and its overall latency. Trigger structure is defined by the physics requirements and the storage capability of DAQ system. Both systems are designed to achieve the highest possible space and time resolution for particle detection. Trigger references are reviewed [1]-[39] as well as chosen accelerator research efforts originating in this country [40]-[83].

The publication of the HL7-FHIR standard offers new possibilities for integrated applications in healthcare. Although trial implementations have only recently started, the application of FHIR in context of a Personal Health Monitoring solution is worth investigating. Most of the existing telemonitoring solutions in healthcare rely on guidelines defined by the Continua Health Alliance (CHA). This paper compares the requirements of CHA and HL7-FHIR with respect to data traffic between client devices and server side applications. Therefore an existing CHA-compliant telemonitoring solution is extended towards supporting HL7-FHIR. Both approaches were simultaneously evaluated in a live system with 68 participants. The results of the evaluation show that the FHIR approach offers the possibility of reducing data traffic in comparison to the CHA solution.

Soldiers are the backbone of any armed force. They usually lose their lives due to the lack of medical assistance in emergency situations. Furthermore, army bases face problems due to the inability to track soldiers’ locations in the field. Hence, this paper proposes an interactive graphical user interface module (IGUIM) for soldiers’ bioinformatics acquisition and emergency reaction during combat, a global positioning system (GPS) is used to track soldiers’ locations through a device carried by the soldier. Soldiers’ bioinformatics are gathered using health monitoring biosensors, bidirectional communication between the soldiers and the army base is established via a global system for mobile (GSM). The proposed interactive module aims to enumerate the soldiers on the battlefield within a database that easily facilitates health monitoring, position tracking and bidirectional communication with each soldier through their identification number. The proposed IGUIM will increase the rate of soldiers’ survival in emergencies, which contributes to preserving the human resources of the army during combat.

The paper presents method for logic controllers multi context implementation by means of partial reconfiguration. The UML state machine diagram specifies the behaviour of the logic controller. Multi context functionality is specified at the specification level as variants of the composite state. Each composite state, both orthogonal or compositional, describes specific functional requirement of the control process. The functional decomposition provided by composite states is required by the dynamic partial reconfiguration flow. The state machines specified by UML state machine diagrams are transformed into hierarchical configurable Petri nets (HCfgPN). HCfgPN are a Petri nets variant with the direct support of the exceptions handling mechanism. The paper presents placesoriented method for HCfgPN description in Verilog language. In the paper proposed methodology was illustrated by means of simple industrial control process.

In the vast archives and libraries of the world, countless historical documents are tucked away, often difficult to access. Thankfully, the digitization process has made it easier to view these invaluable records. However, simply digitizing them is not enough – the real challenge lies in making them searchable and computer-readable. Many of these documents were handwritten, which means they need to undergo handwriting recognition. The first step in this process is to divide the document into lines. This article introduces a solution to this problem using tensor
voting. The algorithm starts by conducting voting on the binary image itself. Then, using the local maxima found in the resulting tensor field, the lines of text are precisely tracked and labeled. To ensure its effectiveness, the algorithm’s performance was tested on the data-set delivered by the organizers of the ICDAR 2009 competition and evaluated using the criteria from this contest.

The quick leakage alarm and the accurate concentration prediction are two important aspects of natural gas safety monitoring. In this paper, a rapid monitoring method of sensor data sharing, rapid leakage alarm and simultaneous output of concentrations prediction is proposed to accelerate the alarm speed and predict the possible impact of leakage. In this method, the Dempster-Shafer evidence theory is used to fuse the trend judgment and the CUSUM (cumulative sum) and the Gauss-Newton iteration is used to predict the concentration. The experiment system based on the TGS2611 natural gas sensor was built. The results show that the fusion method is significantly better than the single monitoring method. The alarm time of fusion method was more advanced than that of the CUSUM method and the trend method (being averagely, 10.4% and 7.6% in advance in the CUSUM method and the trend method respectively). The relative deviations of the predicted concentration were the maximum (13.3%) at 2000 ppm (parts per million) and the minimum (0.8%) at 6000 ppm, respectively.

Towards the Applications of Algorithms for Inverse Solutions in EEG Brain-Computer Interfaces
Jagodzińska, Urszula
Bumar Elektronika S.A., Poligonowa 30, 04-051 Warszawa, Poland
Locating the sources of EEG signals (signal generators), i.e. indicating the places in the brain that the signals come from is the objective of the inverse problem in BCI applications using EEG. The two algorithms based on the methods used in the inverse problem: the linear least squares method and the LORETA1 method were compared. An analysis of the accuracy of locating the sources generating EEG signals on the basis of the two above mentioned methods was carried out with the use of the MATLAB programme. The findings made it possible to determine both the complexity of calculation involved in the methods under consideration and to compare the accuracy of the results obtained. Tests were done in which the inverse problem was solved on the basis of the data that were entered from the electrodes. Then potentials on electrodes were found by means of solving the forward problem once again Φ (Φ −Φ^).Moreover, tests were conducted on simulated data describing current density at selected places in the brain. In this case potentials on the electrodes were found by means of solving the forward problem. Subsequently the inverse problem was solved and potentials at selected places in the brain were specified J(J −J^). In the case of J(J −J^) only the relative error was examined, while the variance was studied in both cases. As a result of doing the tests, it was proved that relative errors were the same in the SVD and PINV methods, while in the LORETA method the error was similar. The variance computed for these methods was more differentiated for each of the cases, which made it possible to compare the algorithms in a better way. Differentiation of the variances under 0.2 shows that the algorithms that have been analyzed work properly. On the basis of knowing the results of the inverse problem, an attempt was made to make a selection of the best features of the EEG signal which differentiates the classes. In the present work tests were conducted to examine the differentiation of selected classes. Welch’s t-statistics was used to differentiate and order them. The results of the tests present the order for three classes of thought tasks, i.e. imagining moving one’s left hand, imagining moving one’s right hand, imagining generating words beginning with a randomly chosen letter. The present work is an introduction to a wider classification of features which are made with the use of inverse solutions.

In this paper, the well-known method of phasor analysis of linear ac circuits is extended in a rigorous mathematical way to nonlinear analysis. This fills the lack of such a theory in the literature. The results derived enable carrying out the needed corrections of some results published recently that regard harmonic distortion analysis of weakly nonlinear circuits.

Evaluation of Popular Path Planning Algorithms
Kara, Mehmet
AGH University of Science and Technology http://orcid.org/0000-0001-9045-2614
The navigation of mobile robots is a key element of autonomous systems, which allows robots to move effectively and securely in changing environments with greater autonomy and precision. This study aims to provide researchers with a comprehensive guide for selecting the best path-planning methods for their particular projects. We evaluate some popular algorithms that are regularly used in mobile robot navigation, in order to demonstrate their specifications and determine where they are most effective. For example, one algorithm is used to model the problem as a standard graph, and another algorithm is found to be the most suitable for highly dynamic and highly dimensional environments, due to its robust path-planning capabilities and efficient route construction. We also filter high-performance algorithms in terms of computational complexity, accuracy, and robustness. In conclusion, this study provides valuable information on its individual strengths and weaknesses, helping robotics and engineers make informed decisions when selecting the most appropriate algorithm for their specific applications.

optimization; measurement uncertainty
The paper presents a novel heuristic procedure (further called the AH Method) to investigate function shape in the direct vicinity of the found optimum solution. The survey is conducted using only the space sampling collected during the optimization process with an evolutionary algorithm. For this purpose the finite model of point-set is considered. The statistical analysis of the sampling quality based upon the coverage of the points in question over the entire attraction region is exploited. The tolerance boundaries of the parameters are determined for the user-specified increase of the objective function value above the found minimum. The presented test-case data prove that the proposed approach is comparable to other optimum neighborhood examination algorithms. Also, the AH Method requires noticeably shorter computational time than its counterparts. This is achieved by a repeated, second use of points from optimization without additional objective function calls, as well as significant repository size reduction during preprocessing.

Acoustic localization by means of sensor arrays has a variety of applications, from conference telephony to environment monitoring. Many of these tasks are appealing for implementation on embedded systems, however large dataflows and computational complexity of multi-channel signal processing impede the development of such systems. This paper proposes a method of acoustic localization targeted for distributed systems, such as Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN). The method builds on an optimized localization algorithm of Steered Response Power with Phase Transform (SRP-PHAT) and simplifies it further by reducing the initial search region, in which the sound source is contained. The sensor array is partitioned into sub-blocks, which may be implemented as independent nodes of WSN. For the region reduction two approaches are handled. One is based on Direction of Arrival estimation and the other - on multilateration. Both approaches are tested on real signals for speaker localization and industrial machinery monitoring applications. Experiment results indicate the method’s potency in both these tasks.

The paper introduces the distributed framework for determining the shortest path of robots in the logistic applications, i.e. the warehouse with a swarm of robots cooperating in the Real-Time mode. The proposed solution uses the optimization routine to avoid the downtime and collisions between robots. The presented approach uses the reference model based on Dijkstra, Floyd-Warshall and Bellman-Ford algorithms, which search the path in the weighted undirected graph. Their application in the onboard robot’s computer requires the analysis of the time efficiency. Results of comparative simulations for the implemented algorithms are presented. For their evaluation the data sets reflecting actual processes were used. Outcomes of experiments have shown that the tested algorithms are applicable for the logistic purposes, however their ability to operate in the Real-Time requires the detailed analysis.

In the paper an implementation of algorithm of Petri net array-based synthesis is presented. The method is based on decomposition of colored interpreted macro Petri net into subnets. The structured encoding of places in subnets is done of using minimal numbers of bits. Microoperations, which are assigned to places, are written into distributed and flexible memories. It leads to realization of a logic circuit in a two-level concurrent structure, where the combinational circuit of the first level is responsible for firing transitions, and the second level memories are used for generation of microoperations. This algorithm is implemented in C# and delivered as a stand alone library.

Relay-based cooperative wireless networks have been widely considered one of the cost-effective solutions to meet the demands in future wireless networks. In order to maximize the overall sum-rate while maintaining proportional fairness among users, we investigate different resource allocation algorithms in two-way relay networks with analog network coding (ANC) protocol and time division broadcast (TDBC) protocol. The algorithms investigated are different from traditional proportional fairness schemes in terms of fairness and computational complexity as we have applied Access Proportional Fairness (APF) and Minimum Rate Proportional Fairness (MRPF) along with load balancing at the relays. A MATLAB simulation has been performed and simulation results show the effectiveness of these algorithms.

Virtual digital representation of a physical object or system, created with precision through computer simulations, data analysis, and various digital technologies can be used as training set for real life situations. The principal aim behind creating a virtual representation is to furnish a dynamic, data-fueled, and digital doppelgänger of the physical asset. This digital counterpart serves multifaceted purposes, including the optimization of performance, the continuous monitoring of its well-being, and the augmentation of informed decision-making processes. Main advantage of employing a digital twin is its capacity to facilitate experimentation and assessment of diverse scenarios and conditions, all without impinging upon the actual physical entity. This capability translates into substantial cost savings and superior outcomes, as it allows for the early identification and mitigation of issues before they escalate into significant problems in the tangible world. Within our research endeavors, we've meticulously constructed a digital twin utilizing the Unity3D software. This digital replica faithfully mimics vehicles, complete with functioning headlamp toggles. Our lighting system employs polygons and normal vectors, strategically harnessed to generate an array of dispersed and reflected light effects. To ensure realism, we've meticulously prepared the scene to emulate authentic road conditions. For validation and testing, we integrated our model with the YOLO (You Only Look Once) neural network. A specifically trained compact YOLO model demonstrated impressive capabilities by accurately discerning the status of real vehicle headlamps. On average, it achieved an impressive recognition probability of 80%, affirming the robustness of our digital twin.

Due to rapid development of wireless systems and future implementation of the 5G system, it is necessary to increase number of the stations and/or number of radio emissions in current and new mobile service frequency bands. For each of the new or modified radio installation in Poland the Electromagnetic Field (EMF) strength levels has to be evaluated and measured/validated in accordance with allowable limits. In the paper the model of estimation of total EMF levels coming from mobile base stations radio emissions to be used for estimation of the whole country territory EMF levels is proposed. Results of preliminary analysis were also shown on practical examples. The model presented in the paper can be used for initial finding of possible places where exist the risk of exceedance of the maximum exposure limits and for analysis of potential radio network development taking into account current regulatory limits. The model will be used in computerized system SI2PEM which is developing in Poland for EMF levels controlling and validation purposes.

IP scheduled throughput defined according to 3GPP TS 36.314 reflects user throughput regardless of traffic characteristics, and therefore has become one of the most important indicators for monitoring Quality of Service (QoS) of the end user in Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN). However, networks built on a distributed architecture make the above definition impossible to be applied directly due to the implementation challenges. This paper gives an overview of the classical Long Term Evolution (LTE) architecture as opposed to Dual Connectivity (DC) topology and focuses on a novel method of solving the calculation issue with the IP scheduled throughput measurement in edge computing environment. Experimental results show a good agreement with the real end user perception.

Abstract— Visible light communication (VLC) has been recently proposed as an alternative standard to radio-based wireless networks. Originally developed as a physical media for PANs (Personal area Networks) it evolved into universal WLAN technology with a capability to transport internet suite of network and application level protocols. Because of its physical characteristics, and in line with the slogan "what you see is what you send", VLC is considered a secure communication method. In this work we focus on security aspects of VLC communication, starting from basic physical characteristics of the communication channel. We analyze the risks of signal jamming, data snooping and data modification. We also discuss MAC-level security mechanisms as defined in the IEEE 802.15.7 standard. This paper is an extension of work originally reported in Proceedings of the 13th IFAC and IEEE Conference on Programmable Devices and Embedded Systems — PDES 2015.

Patient summary documents provide crucial information about a patient, like allergies and adverse reactions, which are necessary for an efficient and safe treatment and offer a quick overview of the patient’s health status. Automatically generating patient summaries from Electronic Health Records (EHR) reduces the workload of medical personnel. Nevertheless, existing approaches do not take several challenges that occur in live operation into account . Based on a health standard-compliant approach, a system for on-demand generation of patient summaries was implemented and evaluated using real data. This work shows several problems which could be identified. Those problems are not covered sufficiently by current research. Possible approaches to a solution are suggested, which have to be further investigated in future work.

Wireless sensor network (WSN) is assortment of sensor nodes proficient in environmental information sensing, refining it and transmitting it to base station in sovereign manner. The minute sensors communicate themselves to sense and monitor the environment. The main challenges are limited power, short communication range, low bandwidth and limited processing. The power source of these sensor nodes are the main hurdle in design of energy efficient network. The main objective of the proposed clustering and data transmission algorithm is to augment network performance by using swarm intelligence approach. This technique is based on K-mean based clustering, data rate optimization using firefly optimization algorithm and Ant colony optimization based data forwarding. The KFOA is divided in three parts: (1) Clustering of sensor nodes using K-mean technique and (2) data rate optimization for controlling congestion and (3) using shortest path for data transmission based on Ant colony optimization (ACO) technique. The performance is analyzed based on two scenarios as with rate optimization and without rate optimization. The first scenario consists of two operations as k- mean clustering and ACO based routing. The second scenario consists of three operations as mentioned in KFOA. The performance is evaluated in terms of throughput, packet delivery ratio, energy dissipation and residual energy analysis. The simulation results show improvement in performance by using with rate optimization technique.

The paper presents comparison between efficiency of an industrial FPGA design software tool Altera Quartus II and similar design software tool Synthagate by Syntezza company of an academic origin. The experiments were performed using a series of examples describing the Mealy finite state machines; one hot state encoding was used in all cases. Area (number of used logical blocks) was the main parameter used for the comparison. Influence of the way of FSM description (in VHDL language) on the quality of synthesis was studied. The obtained results show that Synthagate in almost all cases performs synthesis more efficiently and essentially quicker than Altera Quartus. Section I presents motivation of the research. Section II reminds the notion of FSM. Section III describes problems which had to be solved to provide correctness of experimental comparison. Section IV presents some details about state encoding way used in the experiments. In Section V, the experimental results are presented. Section VI describes the problems related to the comparison which still have to be solved. Section VII presents the conclusions from the experiments. Section VIII suggests possible reasons of the detected situation.

Selection of Clusters based on Internal Indices in Multi-Clustering Collaborative Filtering Recommender System
Kużelewska, Urszula

multi-clustering; collaborative filtering; evaluation of clustering schemes
The successful application of a multi-clustering based neighborhood approach to recommender systems has led to increased recommendation accuracy and the elimination of divergence related to differences in clustering methods traditionally used. The Multi-Clustering Collaborative Filtering algorithm was developed to achieve this, as described in the author’s previous papers. However, utilizing multiple clusters poses challenges regarding memory consumption and scalability.
Not all partitionings are equally advantageous, making selecting clusters for the recommender system’s input crucial without compromising recommendation accuracy. This article presents a solution for selecting clustering schemes
based on internal indices evaluation. This method can be employed for preparing input data in collaborative filtering recommender systems. The study’s results confirm the positive impact of scheme selection on the overall recommendation
performance, as it typically improves after the selection process.
Furthermore, a smaller number of clustering schemes used as
input for the recommender system enhances scalability and
reduces memory consumption. The findings are compared with
baseline recommenders’ outcomes to validate the effectiveness of
the proposed approach.

In the paper experimental results of ISAR (Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar) processing obtained with highresolution radar are presented. Targets under observation were ground moving vehicles, such as cars, trucks and tractors. The experiments were performed with a FMCW (Frequency- Modulated Continuous-Wave) radar operating at 94 GHz with almost 1 GHz of bandwidth. Due to the measurement scenario more typical for SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar), than ISAR, i.e. targets moving along straight line crossing the antenna beam, algorithms usually applied for SAR processing have been used.

Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology, Sydney, Australia
The enhancement of surgical simulation tools is an important research study, to assist in the assessment and feedback of medical training practice. In this research, the Spring Tensor Model (STEM) has been used for laparoscopic end-effector navigation through obstacles and high-risk areas. The modelling of the surgical trainer as part of the laparoscopic simulator seeks to emulate the physical environment as a virtualised representation in the integrated infrastructure. Combining sensor network framework paradigms to a surgical knowledge-based construct demonstrates how STEMcan enhance medical practice. The architectural hybridisation of the training framework has enabled the adaptation of STEM modelling techniques for a simulated laparoscopic training methodology. The primary benefit of the architecture is that this integration strategy has resulted in a seamless transition of the heuristic framework to be applied to surgical training.

This article analyzes the dynamic power losses generated by various hardware implementations of the BLAKE3 hash function. Estimations of the parameters were based on the results of post-route simulations of designs implemented in Xilinx Spartan-7 FPGAs. The algorithm was tested in various hardware organizations: based on a standard iterative architecture with one round instance in the programmable array, various derived versions with pipeline processing were elaborated, which ultimately led to a set of 6 architectural variants of the cipher, from the iterative case (without pipeline) to one with maximum of 6 pipeline stages. Moreover, the results obtained for the iterative architecture were compared with analogous implementations of the BLAKE2 (direct predecessor) and Keccak (the foundation of the current SHA-3 standard) algorithms. This case study illustrates the differences (or lack thereof) in the power requirements of these three hash functions when they are implemented on an FPGA platform, and illustrate the significant savings that can be achieved by introducing pipeline to the processing of the BLAKE round.

The embryonic architecture, which draws inspiration
from the biological process of ontogeny, has built-in
mechanisms for self-repair. The entire genome is stored in the
embryonic cells, allowing the data to be replicated in healthy
cells in the event of a single cell failure in the embryonic fabric.
A specially designed genetic algorithm (GA) is used to evolve the
configuration information for embryonic cells. Any failed embryonic
cell must be indicated via the proposed Built-in Self-test
(BIST) the module of the embryonic fabric. This paper recommends
an effective centralized BIST design for a novel embryonic fabric.
Every embryonic cell is scanned by the proposed BIST in case
the self-test mode is activated. The centralized BIST design uses
less hardware than if it were integrated into each embryonic
cell. To reduce the size of the data, the genome or configuration
data of each embryonic cell is decoded using Cartesian Genetic
Programming (CGP). The GA is tested for the 1-bit adder and
2-bit comparator circuits that are implemented in the embryonic
cell. Fault detection is possible at every function of the cell due to
the BIST module’s design. The CGP format can also offer gate-level
fault detection. Customized GA and BIST are combined
with the novel embryonic architecture. In the embryonic cell, self-repair
is accomplished via data scrubbing for transient errors.

HEVC; video compression; compressed data stream analysis
In this paper, a detailed analysis of the content of the bitstream, produced by the HEVC video encoder is presented. With the use of the HM 10.0 reference software the following statistics were investigated: 1) the amount of data in the encoded stream related to individual frame types, 2) the relationship between the value of the QP and the size of the bitstream at the output of the encoder, 3) contribution of individual types of data to I and B frames. The above mentioned aspects have been thoroughly explored for a wide range of target bitrates. The obtained results became the basis for highlighting guidelines that allow for efficient bitrate control in the HEVC encoder.
