Abstract

This paper proposes a Z source inverter assisted electromagnetic energy harvesting system. Electrical and mechanical components in an energy harvesting system produces electrical energy when tuned optimally. Adjustment of damping and resonant frequency is a crucial parameter in operating an energy harvesting system. This paper proposes a Z source inverter assisted system, where the independent control freedom of Z source inverter has been utilized to regulate the output power. The two key components, damping and resonant frequency, have been regulated and therefore, an improved performance of the energy harvesting system has been achieved. The simulation based validation establishes the effectiveness of proposed architecture and control under operating conditions of varying frequency and varying amplitude.
