Abstract

Detection of underwater pipeline leakage is essential in the oil and gas sectors due to its potential to inflict environmental harm, financial loss, and safety hazards. This article compares several leak detection systems, including classic and developing technology, and addresses localization strategies for pipeline breaches. Significant problems, including sensor malfunctions, data integrity, signal disruption, and scalability, are also addressed. By illustrating practical applications and assessing their efficacy, limitations, and the insights gained, case studies are employed to bridge the gap between theory and practice. A comparative study of previous research highlights existing gaps and future research initiatives focused on improving detection accuracy, localization precision, and cost-effectiveness. This review offers critical insights to enhance next-generation underwater pipeline monitoring devices.
