Design Considerations for High-Speed Read-Out Integrated Circuits for Photonic Integrated Circuits

Authors

Abstract

Photonic integrated circuits often need a dedicated electronic device to communicate with the external world. Often a dedicated Read-Out Integrated Circuit is preferred. In this work the design considerations for high-speed ROICs are presented. A set of key specifications is discussed. Then, selected ROIC chiplevel topics are presented. Finally, the issues related to the experimental testing and system-level development are considered.
